Treating the bikini line

How the appointment runs
Sessions usually sit four weeks apart. Most patients need three to six, although tethered and atrophic scars often need the upper end of that range.
Dr Sarah examines and classifies the scar, then photographs it. Next she treats according to type, which may mean needling, subcision or injection. Finally we agree the interval before your next visit.
Who we cannot treat
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Any scar still healing or showing signs of infection
- Isotretinoin within the last six months
- Uncontrolled diabetes or a healing disorder
- Any undiagnosed lesion, which we biopsy or refer rather than treat
Recovery and aftercare
- Keep the area clean and moisturised
- Sunscreen on exposed treated skin for at least eight weeks
- No pools, saunas or gym for seventy-two hours after needling
- Massage the scar if we instruct you to
- Report increasing pain, spreading redness or discharge straight away
